GREENE – In its third meeting with UV this season – all one-run games – Greene grabbed the rubber match when Zach Lindow hustled home with the Trojans’ fifth run in the bottom of the fifth following a wild pitch.
UV led early with three runs in the second. Brendan Brooker’s RBI single scored one run, and two other runs came in on an error to make it 3-1.
Greene gave up another run in the third before mounting a rally. Kurt Bartholomew’s two-run single drew his team to within one, and Alex Kozisky tied the game with a single.
Greene hurler Alex Csigi finished the game with four shutout innings to earn the victory. He was helped by a double play in the fifth, and finished the game with a one-two-three inning in the seventh.
Kozisky had two hits to lead UV, and Brooker had two hits for UV.

NORWICH – Owego used three big innings to pull away for the victory over Norwich Monday night.
The Indians scored four in their opening at-bat, added four more in the fifth, and tacked on five in the sixth to create a 13-run bulge.
The Indians’ C.J. Bergmann was 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, and teammate Michael Yanchus added three hits and two RBI. “They were finding holes all over the place,” said Norwich coach Rich Turnbull of Owego’s 17 hits. “It wasn’t as if they were hitting bombs. They were just seeing-eye singles.”
Colby Griffin and Josh Haines had two hits apiece for Norwich, and Derek Manwarren added a two-run double in the seventh.
NHS hosts Unadilla Valley Thursday.

BAINBRIDGE – Austin Bauerle won his ninth decision this season tossing a complete-game six-hitter in Monday’s victory over Oxford.
Bauerle fanned nine and walked just one, and he was helped by single runs in the third and fourth innings.
The Bobcats scored an unearned run in the third for the lead, and Tyler Ouimet singled in the fourth, stole second, and came home with the eventual winning run on two wild pitches.
Kyle Crawford scored Oxford’s lone tally coming home on Jeff Lawton’s RBI single in the fifth.
Kevin Davis was the hard-luck loser for Oxford pitching four innings.

COPES CORNERS – In a tuneup for Friday’s Tri-Valley League championship game, Edmeston used five different pitchers to hold G-MU’s bats in check in Monday’s victory over the Raiders.
Panthers starter Linton Wainright pitched two innings and recorded all six of his outs by strikeout. Reliever Clayton Lyon pitched three innings for the victory and struck out four more Raiders.
On the offensive side, Edmeston drew seven walks and had three hit batsmen. Mike Clark had two hits and two RBI in the win, and Clayton Hawes added two hits.
“They’re a good team, and there is a reason why they are playing in our league championship game. They definitely took advantage of the free baserunners,” said G-MU coach Rick Mohrein. “We also had 10 free runners on walks and hit batters, the difference is that we weren’t able to capitalize.”
G-MU eighth-grader Andrew Baker had two hits and one run scored in the loss. The Raiders finish the season with a 4-12 mark.

NORWICH – Norwich split a doubleheader with Owego Monday night earning its fourth Southern Tier Athlic Conference victory in the process.
NHS won the opener getting RBI hits from Molly Moore and Jordan Sanford to open a 7-3 cushion.
Norwich established the lead scoring five runs in the second. Sarah Miller had a two-run single, Katie Callahan smacked a two-run double, and Sanford made it 5-0 with an RBI groundout.
Jill Silvanic had two hits for Owego including a two-run homer in the fifth.
Shannon Moore picked up the victory striking out six.
Owego scored all of its runs in the fourth and fifth innings to rally for the one-run win in the nightcap of the twinbill. Silvanic had a two-run single in Owego’s three-run fifth, and scored the go-ahead run on a groundout.
Shannon Moore and Kassidy Seary had RBI singles to give Norwich the early lead, and Shannon Moore led Norwich (5-12) with three hits. Kat DeTomi added an RBI single in the fifth inning.
“We’ve had to play four state-ranked teams this year, so we haven’t had an easy schedule this season,” said Norwich coach Scott Moore of his team’s four league wins. “If we limit our mistakes and put a bat on the ball, we can compete with anybody.”
Norwich hosts Windsor Friday.

HARPURSVILLE – Oxford avenged a 14-1 loss to Harpursville to finish the season with its fourth victory.
Rachel Seiler was 3-for-4 and drove in three runs to lead Oxford (4-9). Meg Golden and Jess Frank each had 3-for-4 days, and Logan Nuzzolese added two hits including a two-run double in the first inning. Golden also drove in two runs to support winning pitcher Lorrin Parks. Golden pitched the final two innings to earn the save.
“The wheels kind of fell of last Friday against Greene, but we got them back today,” said Oxford coach Heather Pizza. “After the last time we played (Harpursville), the girls could have thought it might not be a good day, but on any given day, you can beat another team. After the first inning, we knew we could do it.”

NORWICH – A non-league match between and unbeaten Lansing and STAC East division champion Norwich went down to the wire Monday night.
In the last contested match of the day, the Bobcats’ Spencer Warkentin and Luke Mehringer won a deuce point on match point to edge the Tornado’s number one doubles team, Grant Brightman and Danny Carson, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Lansing, in fact, won three of the four matchups extended to three sets to keep its record this season unblemished. “It was a great match, and it served its purpose to get us ready for sectionals,” said Norwich coach John Stewart. “We were right there, and it was definitely a winnable match.”
Norwich sophomore Matt Craig kept his perfect season alive, too, rallying from a first-set loss to beat Andrew Bertonica, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2. NHS doubles teams Brendon Budd-Alec Weaver and Cameron Edwards-Carlos Ithier won in straight sets for Norwich’s other two team points.
Norwich’s STAC semifinal, originally slated for Tuesday, was postponed until next week, Stewart said. Prospective NHS opponents, Maine-Endwell and Vestal, tied for first place in their division, and will not play off for first place until after sectionals are completed.
Norwich competes in the Class B sectionals this Thursday at Owego.

BenGabriel Gonzalez, Skyler McKee, and Nate Hager all won at singles for B-G. Spenser Stevens and Thomas Petrutoni won a close match at first doubles topping Alex Ellerson and Joe Pomeroy, 6-3, 7-5. The Bobcats won the other doubles match by forfeit.
“I liked our season, especially with our youth,” said B-G coach George Williams, who just completed his 37th season of coaching. “We were pretty competitive, even with the better teams. I was definitely happy with the progress.”
