Afton

The 2013-2014 school year budget for Afton Central School District passed on Tuesday, with a vote of 138 to 83. Additionally, the school’s bus proposition passed with a vote of 128 to 89.

Moreover, school board candidate Ted King, who ran unopposed this year, will return for another five-year term on the Afton school board.

Bainbridge-Guilford

With a total voter turnout of 413, the proposed budget – $16,669,076 with a 2.9 percent tax levy increase – was passed with 280 votes in favor and 131 opposed. The proposed bus purchase was also passed with 291 votes in favor and 119 against while Emily Hall – with 306 votes – and Julee Hartwell – with 291 votes – were elected to the B-G Board of Education.

Greene

Residents of the Greene Central School District voted and approved Tuesday the proposed 2013-14 budget of $24,391,603 which will result in an estimated 2.85 percent tax levy increase, the maximum allowed under the newly enacted Property Tax Cap legislation. The 2013-2014 tax levy increase is up from last year’s tax levy increase of 1.42 percent.

The budget was approved 241-89.

Voters will also choose to elect three new board members for three-year vacancies. Ethan Day, Helen Hunsinger and Tammie McCauley will hold the positions on the board.

Norwich

Although it is yet to be made official, voter turnout Tuesday night favored school board candidates John Klockowski, George Carnrike and Howard Sullivan. The district plans to recount ballots, including absentee ballots, today. Each candidate position comes with a three-year term.
