Griffin, Bauerle named to all-state baseball teams
SYRACUSE – Two area baseball players and five softball players were recently named to the New York all-state teams by the New York State Sportwriters Association.
Norwich senior first baseman Colby Griffin and Bainbridge-Guilford senior Austin Bauerle were selected. Griffin, a fifth team pick in Class B, led Norwich with a .431 batting average and 13 RBI. In addition to playing American Legion ball this summer, Griffin is also playing for the Syracuse Junior Chiefs in a New York State collegiate baseball league. "It's nice to see Colby get rewarded and recognized for his hard work," said Norwich varsity baseball coach Rich Turnbull. "There isn't a day that goes by that Colby isn't working on his game. To be recognized on the state level is well deserved."
