Who’s Your Hero winners – how to get your tickets

NORWICH – The Chenango County Fair, Millennia Entertainment, Norwich Pennysaver, The Evening Sun and Swelby would like to extend gratitude to all those who nominated their personal heroes as part of the “Who’s Your Hero” contest.

Ten winners have been selected for a special meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with country singer Jamie O’Neal at the Chenango County Fair on Wednesday, August 7.

The winning heroes were nominated by friends and family members who felt as though the individuals have gone above and beyond within the community. These individuals’ efforts have not gone unnoticed and they will receive this special recognition at the “Guitars Under the Stars” show Wednesday evening.

“This year we want to recognize all the heroes that are in our local community - whether it is a teacher, fireman, police officer, a mother, father, or just someone who means something to your life,” said Terry Potter, owner of Millenia Entertainment. “There are so many people here that need to be acknowledged for their courage and strength, and for the impact they have had on lives throughout the local and regional community.”

One of O’Neal’s songs, titled “Somebody’s Hero,” closely relates to the theme of the Guitars Under the Stars show this year. The song reflects the idea that not all heroes are those that rule the world or save people from burning buildings - a hero can be a mother raising her children alone, a father doing the same, or any number of other possibilities.
