NORWICH – A dozen people appeared in county court for arraignments, all of whom pleaded not guilty to the respective charges for which they have been indicted.
• Kyle W. Braman, 28, Binghamton, pleaded not guilty to the charges of second degree rape, a class D felony; second degree criminal sexual act, a class D felony; and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
It is alleged that in July of this year, Braman had sexual relations with a female who was less than 15-years-old at a Village of Sherburne residence.
During his arraignment, it was pointed out by public defender John Cameron that Braman is member of the National Guard and anticipates being discharged in a month. It also came to light during the proceeding that a warrant had been issued charging Braman with second degree criminal contempt for allegedly tampering with a witness. Allegedly, Braman contacted the 15-year-old female and attempted to influence her testimony prior to grand jury indictments.
In response, Cameron stated that Braman denies the allegation. Braman was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail to re-appear in court at a later date.
• Micheal R. Pollock, 44, Pharsalia, pleaded not guilty to charges of first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, driving while having a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher, and driving while intoxicated - all class E felonies. He was released on his own recognizance to return to court at a later date.
• James C. Johnson, 38, Binghamton, pleaded not guilty to first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operating a motor vehicle while having .08 percent or more blood alcohol content, DWI felony, and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor. He was released to re-appear in court at a later date.
It is alleged that in July and while in the Town of Greene, the defendant operated a 2007 Volkswagan Jetta while having a blood alcohol content of .09 percent, with a revoked or suspended license, and while carryng a set of metal knuckles in his pants’ pocket.
• Joshua C. Trask, 23, Sherburne, pleaded not guilty to a three count indictment charging him with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony; first degree criminal nuisance, a class E felony; and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. Bail which was set and posted in local court in the amount of $2,000 cash, was continued and he will re-appear in court at a later date.
It is alleged that Trask maintained a location where controlled substances sold, from which he benefited from, and that he possessed the narcotic heroin with the intention of selling it.
• Thomas E. Bates, 45, Norwich, pleaded not guilty to the charge of felony DWI, was released, and will re-appear in court at a later date.
• Christopher R. Cox, 31, New Hartford, pleaded not guilty to a three count indictment charging him with third degree criminal sale of a controlled substances, a class B felony; third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and fifth degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class D felony. He was remanded back to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $20,000 cash bail.
• Matthew P. Bigelow, 29, Sherburne, pleaded not guilty to third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was released on his own recognizance to re-appear in court on another date.
• Christopher M. Bennett, 40, of Symrna, pleaded not guilty to an indicted charged him with two counts of fourth degree grand larceny, a class E felony; and one count of petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor. He was released on his own recognizance and will appear again in court at a later date.
• Desiree S. Prosser, 26, Norwich, pleaded not guilty to first degree promoting prison contraband, a class D felony; and will appear in court at a later date.
• Stacey A. Truesdail, 31, Greene, pleaded not guilty to a three count indictment and bail set and posted in the lower court was continued. Charged with second degree burglary, a class C felony; fourth degree grand larceny, a class E felony; and petit larceny, it is alleged that Truesdail stole jewelery from a residence with an estimated value of $1,780.
• Jennah I. Shreve, 21, Sherburne, pleaded not guilty to third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, first degree criminal nuisance, and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Bail of $1,000 posted in the lower court was maintained and she will re-appear in court at a later date.
• Fernando A. Rodriguez, 32, New Jersey, was arraigned on a bench warrant issued out of a New Jersey Superior Court on May 18, 2007. New Jersey police will have 14 days to collect Rodriquez before he is released.
