Norwich 5, Owego 2
NORWICH - Norwich coach John Stewart said his team needed a fast start against Owego, and that is exactly what happened.
Norwich won the first set in all seven matchups, and despite stern resistance from the Indians the rest of the way, improved its record to 3-0 on the season. Norwich won two of three doubles matches - both in three sets – and three of the four singles matches had sets decided by a tiebreaker. “They beat us both times last year, and they’re as competitive a team as we are,” said Norwich coach John Stewart. “We wanted to come out and dominate the first sets, and that’s exactly what we did.”
Stewart enjoyed the first-set wins, but knew a team victory required a bit more work. Breanna Cashman, Makenzie Maynard, and Caroline Stewart, the second, third, and fourth singles players respectively, all rallied from big deficits to pull out sets. Maynard’s and Stewart’s rallies came in the second set to close out team points.
“We played really hard again, and I was proud of how the girls competed today,” Stewart said.

Daniel Norris also scored for B-G in the win. “We moved the ball a lot better than our first game, and it was definitely back and forth today,” said Oxford coach Matt Dorman. “We’re a young team, but I can see we are starting to click.”
