Milford Academy rallies for last-minute win

STATEN ISLAND – For the second time this season, Milford Academy pulled out a victory in the final minute of play.
Kwame Jarvis’ TD strike to Zach Grant with just over a minute to play gave the Falcons a one-point advantage in a 27-26 victory over Wagner’s junior varsity team Sunday.
Milford began its comeback in the third quarter when linebacker Tony Lashley forced a Wagner fumble and recovered it for a touchdown. Kyle Buss had a 40-yard TD reception that cut Wagner’s lead to 26-12, and Buss also caught the two-point conversion trimming the deficit to 12.
Jarvis then connected with Syracuse Nottingham grad Derrick Gore on a three-yard TD reception to make it a one-score game.
This coming weekend, Milford Academy’s ties to Wagner will be on display at Syracuse University. Thirteen former Milford Academy players will compete in the Syracuse-Wagner collegiate football game, said head coach Bill Chaplick.
The Falcons are in action this Saturday when they host Erie Community College at Alumni Field (the former Fish Field).
