Authorities seek suspect in Kwik-Fill robbery
NORWICH – An investigation is currently underway involving an alleged armed robbery that took place at the Kwik-Fill Gas Station on state Highway 12 in the Town of Norwich on Sunday evening.
According to authorities, the male suspect may be armed and remains at large.
Police reported at approximately 6:55 p.m., Sunday, an unidentified white male entered and exited the convenience store from its front door and fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency. The Sheriff’s Office report also stated, “He displayed what appeared to be a handgun.”
The male was last seen entering the plaza located on the east side of state Highway 12, authorities added.
The man has been described as approximately six feet tall, and dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, dark shoes, black and white gloves, and a white knit hat and/or a white face mask.
Authorities ask anyone who was in the area at the time of the crime and may have information with regard to details or the location of the suspect to contact the Chenango County Sheriff's Office at 334-2000. – Ashley Biviano

Sheriff’s Office investigating alleged shooting; confiscate cocaine, marijuana
OXFORD – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office investigated a shooting that occurred Saturday, Sept. 21 at a residence on Lyon Brook Road in the Town of Oxford.
According to authorities, an individual was shot at as bullets struck the passenger side of the vehicle he was operating. The alleged victim was then involved in a motor vehicle accident as he attempted to flee the area. Detectives and road patrol members executed a search warrant at the Oxford location where they then located the suspect, Martin P. Provo, in a wooded area. The shotgun used in the incident along with shell casings were recovered by law enforcement. Authorities also seized approximately 1.75 ounces of powder cocaine, several pounds of marijuana, a scale and $3,800 in cash. Several other firearms were seized during the investigation, police added.
Provo, 50, of Oxford, has been charged with first degree reckless endangerment, a class D felony; third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony; and second degree criminal possession of marijuana, a class D felony. Additional charges are expected, but have not yet been released.
Provo was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court on Saturday and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail. It was confirmed Monday morning that Provo has posted bond and been released.

One injured in McDonough motorcycle accident
McDONOUGH – First responders were called to the scene of a motorcycle accident at approximately 3:08 p.m. in the Town of McDonough on Saturday, Sept. 21. The incident occurred near 2238 state Highway 220 in McDonough.
According to authorities, one patient was transported via LifeNet to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City.
The New York State Police were the reporting agency involved. Responding fire departments included the McDonough, Norwich, Oxford and Pharsalia fire departments.
The patient’s condition has not been released, nor has the cause of the accident. – Ashley Biviano
