Greene advances to finals

Field Hockey

GREENE – Greene advanced to the finals of the Nancy Bromley/Nancy Barrows Tournament scoring in the last minute and half to beat Marathon Thursday, 2-1.
Jessica David pushed the ball up the field and centered a pass to Laura Durdon, who dove at the ball and shot it past the Marathon keeper with 1:22 to play.
Greene led 1-0 at the half thanks to a blast by Shiann Johns off a feed from Tiffany Borst. “I thought we played a little better in the first half and we were a little more feisty in the circle,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin. “We kind of survived in the second half, but this was a great win.”
