Car museum hopes for full house for Classic Casino Night

NORWICH – The Northeast Classic Car Museum is rallying for the its second largest annual fundraiser, Classic Casino Night, which returns to the floor of the museum this Friday.
For years, Classic Casino Night has been a much beloved tradition for area auto enthusiasts who also seek an extra bit of gaming excitement. The occasion features a number of fun games, thrilling prizes, raffles and great food, according to Car Museum Marketing Coordinator Marty Kuhn, and it helps the non-profit organization continue its mission to spotlight the automobile as an influential centerpiece of American history.
Tickets are still available, said Kuhn, though an RSVP is required by noon on Wednesday. A donation of $65 per person includes dinner catered by Tuller’s Catering, drinks and a $30,000 Classic Cash Card for gaming and the grand finale auction. Classic Car Museum members are $60 per person and will receive an additional $30,000 in Classic Cash.
The event - sponsored by NBT Bank, Wells Fargo, Rapid Reproductions and Snyder Communications - gets underway from 6-10 p.m. on Oct. 18 at the museum, located at 24 Rexford Street in Norwich.
Contestants this year will be able to try their hand in authentic casino games like Let it Ride, Roulette, Blackjack, Craps, and Caribbean Poker - all while enjoying an assortment of hors d’oeurves, salads, pasta, prime rib or cranberry glazed turkey, and their pick of available desserts. A number of door prizes and raffles will also be awarded throughout the evening.
Additionally, an open bar will be available for drinks such as red, white or blush wine, and bottled beer. Guests must be 21 years or older to attend.
“This is always a huge success for us,” Kuhn said, adding that the event typically draws more than 200 attendees each year. “Everyone has such a great time. It’s one more way people can become familiar with the museum, what we have on display, and what we have to offer.”
All games lead up to the evening’s grand finale, a live auction in which gamers can use their Casino Cash winnings to bid on a number of prizes donated to the museum by local individuals, restaurants and retail businesses.
“We have a lot of great prizes this year,” Kuhn added. “We have gift certificates and gift baskets from several restaurants, theater tickets from local theater companies and even $75 worth of elk steaks. We also have an original oil painting from Irad Ingraham who has been a good friend to the museum.”
All who attend will also have the chance to check out the exhibits on display in the museum’s gallery, which will remain open throughout the event.
“This is a great opportunity for people to get out and have a fun-filled night. We’re really hoping for another good turnout this year,” said Museum Director Robert Jeffrey. “This is a good benefit, not only for the museum but the community as well. Many businesses have donated items for this event to help support the museum. Conversely, it helps the museum with its goal of supporting local businesses.”
