Two arrested in NPD heroin bust

NORWICH – The Norwich City Police Department, in concert with the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, executed a no-knock search warrant at a Plymouth Street residence on Tuesday, ending an extensive investigation into the sale of heroin.

The search, conducted at 21 Plymouth Street at approximately 5 p.m., led to the arrest of two individuals: Travis Rifanburg and Kajuan Bunn. According to a media release from NPD, detectives received information that “quantities of heroin” were being sold from the residence and obtained a search warrant signed by Chenango County Court Judge Frank Revoir, Jr.

Those who were arrested were taken into custody without incident. Rifanburg, 33, Norwich, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree; criminal nuisance in the first degree; criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree; and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Bunn, 30, of Brooklyn, NY, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree; criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree; criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument; and unlawful possession of marijuana.

The two were held in the Norwich Police lock-up. An arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday in Norwich City Court.
