Blanket raffle raises unexpected amount for a good cause

NORWICH – Residents at UHS Chenango Memorial crafted a fleece blanket with a breast cancer theme that raised an unexpected $1,030 to help local breast cancer patients.

Residents donated money from the raffle to the Chenango Health Network for its fund to help local breast cancer patients purchase gas cards for transportation to treatment centers and resources to help with co-pays.

“Our residents enjoy staying involved in activities that validate their connection to the community at large,” said Suzanne Martin, social worker at UHS. “We provide many opportunities to keep them connected and they always look forward to worthwhile local initiatives like this one.”
