DELHI – Defending MAC champion Unadilla Valley began defense of its title Monday night with a 30-point win over Delhi.

Senior Taylor Davis scored 14 of her 21 points after halftime, and first-year varsity player Breanna Christian gave the Storm a spark in the second quarter.

“We started slow, but once we got the jitters out, we played pretty well,” said UV coach Brandi Backus. “We got into tons of foul trouble, and that was how Delhi scored most of its points.”

UV expanded a four-point first-quarter lead to 15 at halftime as Christian scored all eight of her points – including a three-pointer – in the quarter. Emily Converse added 11 points for UV in the victory.
