Bonney earns performer of the week award
GENEVA – Hobart College senior forward Richie Bonney (Norwich High School/Norwich, N.Y.) was named the Liberty League Men's Basketball Performer of the Week by the conference office Monday. He averaged 22.5 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists in a pair of league wins this past weekend.
In Friday's 68-57 win over Skidmore, Bonney recorded game-highs of 21 points, nine rebounds and three steals. He also added three assists without a turnover. In Saturday's 113-77 victory over Rensselaer, Bonney posted his 13th double-double of the season on game-highs of 24 points and 11 rebounds. He again handed out three assists without a turnover.
For the week, Bonney shot 66.7 percent from the floor (18-27) and 69.2 percent from the foul line (9-13). He passed a pair of career milestones over the weekend grabbing his 800th career rebound against the Thoroughbreds, and moving into eighth place on Hobart's all-time scoring list (1,463) against the Engineers.
Through 16 games, Bonney is averaging 19.8 points, 11. 5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.1 blocked shots per game. He's shooting 54.4 percent from the floor and 65.3 percent from the foul line. Bonney is second in the conference in scoring, first in rebounding, second in field goal percentage, and seventh in blocked shots.
Hobart has won five straight games to improve to 12-4 overall. The first-place Statesmen are 6-1 in Liberty League play, one game ahead of second-place Vassar (13-3, 5-2).
