Edwards picks up third Rookie of the Week award
CANTON – For the third time this season, 2013 Norwich High School graduate, Kyle Edwards, was named the men's basketball Liberty League Rookie of the Week.
Edwards shot 50 percent from behind the three-point arc (6-for-12) in games against Bard and Vassar last week. He had 30 total points to go with five rebounds and six assists.
The freshman shooting guard has started all 15 games for the Saints this season, and is second on the team in scoring at 11.9 points per game, and among the team leaders in rebounds (3.1/gm) and assists (3.0/gm).
Bonney collects third Capital One Academic All-District award
GENEVA – For the third time in as many seasons, Hobart College senior forward Richie Bonney (Norwich/Norwich, N.Y.) has been voted to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's Basketball first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He will now advance to the national Academic All-America ballot.
A 2013 Capital One first team Academic All-American, Bonney is a double major in philosophy and public policy studies. He is a Dean's List student and a member of Chimera, the Hobart junior class honor society, and a Druid, Hobart's senior class honor society. Bonney has been named to three consecutive Liberty League All-Academic Teams.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
