Bonney Player of Year; Edwards Rookie of Year

GENEVA – The Liberty League announced its 2013-2014 men’s basketball all-league and major award winners, and Norwich High School graduates Richie Bonney and Kyle Edwards picked up two of the league’s top honors.

Bonney, a senior forward for Hobart College, was named the Player of Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches. He helped lead Hobart to a 21-6 record, its fourth consecutive Liberty League regular-season title, and its second straight tournament championship.

A two-time performer of the week in the 2013-14 season, Bonney led the Liberty League in rebounds (11.2) while ranking second in points per game (19.9). The senior forward also showcased his defensive prowess finishing tied for fourth in the league in blocks with 31, averaging just over one a game (1.1). Bonney recorded 20 or more points in 14 games, while posting a league best 20 double-doubles. The senior forward was the only Liberty League player to average a double-double.
