Registration for the 2014 GCAT begins
CHENANGO COUNTY – The Greater Chenango Aquatics Team also known as the GCATs is proud to announce that the swim club will be starting its third long course season of USA Swimming.
Registration for the Greater Chenango Aquatics Team begins March 24, 2014. The program consists of three different camps for two six-week sessions. The first six-week session is a technique camp where the emphasis will be placed on developing good swim habits, proper technique, and the new technical aspects of competitive swimming for the purpose of long-term development and injury prevention. Swimmers will work on developing all four strokes, proper head position, bodyline and balance, starts, turns and finishes. Everyone will receive instruction and feedback throughout the six weeks.
This camp is for those new to swimming, those interested in pursuing competitive swimming as a sport, those who would like to refine technique, and those who would like to maintain aerobic training. “The kids don't have to know how to swim well to be a part of this team, they just have to love to swim,” said head coach Saundra Gantt “We will teach them the fundamentals of competitive swimming to make it easier in the end. Swim smarter, not harder."
