The Easter egg hunt is on!
NORWICH – As Easter quickly approaches, the city of Norwich celebrates with an Easter Egg Hunt for children. At 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19 kids up to 4 years old will be able to gather eggs at West Park in Norwich. At 10:15 a.m., kids ages 5 to 8 will go hunting at East Park. Organizers request that all children be accompanied by an adult and that each child come with his or her own basket. The hunts will commence irregardless of weather conditions.
With more than 2,000 eggs in each park, children will have the opportunity to fill their baskets. The eggs will be filled with candy and various prizes. To make the hunt even more enticing there will be one special egg in each park. The two children who discover the eggs will each receive a bicycle as a grand prize. Adults will also be on the look out for the Golden Egg and the winner will be presented with his or her prize at the hunt.
Pat Ford, President of Maydole Hose Company of the Norwich Fire Department, is happy to have his company sponsor the event. Other sponsors include Norwich Business Improvement District and Norwich Merchants Association. Ford explained that they resurrected the hunt approximately five years ago. The event has been so popular that Ford joked that they could never stop hosting it.
