Adirondack 14 Sherburne-Earlville 5
Adirondack’s Lexi Charbonneau hit for the cycle, driving in six runs in a delayed win at Sherburne-Earlville Thursday.
Charbonneau had a three RBI triple in the first inning, a double, a single and three RBI homerun in the seventh to lead the Cats to retribution.
The Marauders knocked Adirondack out of playoff contention last season with a win on the Cats home diamond.
SE started 2013 with 22 hit in two games. They had six hits coming into their third game this year.
Although SE managed eight hits in the game, delayed two hours due to an umpire scheduling error, head softball coach Scott Fitzpatrick is not pleased with the girls play at the plate.
“The last couple of practices all we've been working on is hitting,” Fitzpatrick said, “For the rest of the week it’s drill, drill, drill... They aren’t going to like me very much, but one way or another I will teach them.”
With the roster shortened by vacationing varsity players, Fitzpatrick was forced to call up two jayvee players for Thursday’s 3:00 ball-game.
“One jayvee player got to run and score. So, she got a little taste of it,” Fitzpatrick said.
Senior Emma Hodge pitched a complete game and went 2-4 leading off the first inning with a triple.
Hodge will take the mound again when Sherburne-Earlville (0-3) plays Canastota at home Monday.
