Several appear in county court
NORWICH - A number of people appeared in Chenango County Court on Monday, May 12 for sex offender risk level determination, arraignments and sentencing.
• Robert E. Baker, 58, Plymouth, was brought in so the judge could determine his sex offender risk level. The proceedings were adjourned as a decision is still pending. Baker was remanded back to CCCF, where he has been serving time since March. On March 21 he pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a sexual performance on a child, a class E felony. He was sentenced to six months at CCCF and 10 year probation supervision.
• Michael P. Galesky, 29, Norwich, appeared in court for his arraignment. He was originally charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor. He was released on his own recognizance and will appear in court at a later date.
Allegedly, on or about Feb. 20, 2014, Galesky was in Norwich and did possess 14 glassine envelopes of heroin with the intent to sell it.
• Joseph F. Ashley, 55, Norwich, was brought in for his arraignment on charges of violating his probation. He was originally charged with attempted coercion in Nassau County Court and his case was transferred to Chenango County upon his relocation. A conference was scheduled for a later date and Ashley was remanded to the CCCF without bail until the conference.
