Authorities seize heroin, arrest two

NORWICH – Authorities seized more than $5,000 worth of heroin early Wednesday evening, which was the result of a lengthy investigation into the drug trade in Norwich, according to Norwich Police Chief Joseph Angelino.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Norwich Police Officers conducted a traffic stop within the city that led to the arrest of John A. Zangari, 51, and Lynn M. Minch, 44, both of Norwich.

According to a release by the NPD, officers found a large quantity of bundled heroin while executing a search warrant on the vehicle and the occupants.  Simultaneously, Norwich Police officers searched an apartment at 28 Fair Street.

The investigation included detectives from the Chenango Sheriff’s Office and assistance from Chenango County District Attorney Joseph McBride, and the search warrants were authorized by Chenango County Court Judge Frank B. Revoir, Jr.
