NORWICH – The Christian Neighborhood Center of Norwich, Inc., and The Place will be signing a contract with the Chenango County Department of Social Services this week to run the Summer Youth Employment Program, a program of New York State.

New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) has designated $90,852 to make this program possible in Chenango County. The program is designed to provide young people from low-income households with valuable work experience and a much-needed paycheck.

 “We are excited to announce that the funding received by NYS will allow us to place 54 youth at host sites throughout Chenango County this summer,” said The Place Executive Director Rebecca Sands. According to Sands, Communities served will include Norwich, Earlville, Oxford, Sherburne, Bainbridge and Greene.
