Funds being raised for tornado victims' relatives

SMITHFIELD (AP) - An online fundraiser has been started for the family of a woman who was killed along with her infant daughter when a tornado destroyed their central New York home earlier this week.
The Post-Star of Syracuse reports that a relative started the effort on the fundraising website gofundme.com for the parents and 11-year-old daughter of Kimberly Hilliard. She and her baby, 4-month-old Paris Newman, were killed when the tornado touched down Tuesday evening in the rural Madison County town of Smithfield during violent thunderstorms.
Hilliard’s parents and older daughter weren’t at home when the tornado struck, destroying their home and three others nearby. Two people living in separate homes also were killed, including 70-year-old woman who was related to Hilliard.
The online fundraiser has raised $22,000 by Thursday morning.
