Fox found shot at Oxford business

OXFORD – Community members and business owners in the Village of Oxford are voicing their concern about the killing of a red fox by firearm within the village limits, and some are looking for answers.

A post on the social media website Facebook circulated Wednesday afternoon, after employees at the Blue Stone Golf Course located on the village's east end, made the discovery.

“We look forward to seeing the family of red foxes that live around the property,” said Will Bradley, owner of the golf course. “They’ve been around for years and have never been a threat or nuisance; we're all a little shocked.”

According to Bradley, the family of red foxes have been absent from the greens in recent years and this had been the first year of their return to the local den.

“Two pups were born this spring, and our staff and patrons really enjoy seeing them around,” Bradley said.

Staff members at the golf course found one of the two foxes shot and lying dead at the second hole Tuesday morning at approximately 7 a.m.
