Health department claims win against stricter day camp laws

CHENANGO COUNTY – Nearly two months after the county health department led a stance against stricter statewide regulations for children’s camps, department officials are counting their protest as a win in Albany.

The county health department received correspondence this month from New York State Senator James Seward (R-51st Senate District) and Assemblyman Clifford Crouch (R-122nd District), both clarifying that a proposal to implement tougher regulations for children’s day camps has stalled in the state capitol.

“This legislation never came to the floor to be voted on, so it will have to be reintroduced all over again next year,” Crouch wrote. “I don’t think that will happen.”
