Ice cream and music ring in centennial celebration
NORWICH – City residents are invited to enjoy an evening of sweets and neighborly love as the year-long celebration of the City of Norwich centennial continues on Friday.
The Norwich Centennial Committee, with help from the Norwich Rotary, will host an ice cream social starting at 7 p.m. Friday in East Park in downtown Norwich. Ice cream sundaes will be offered to the young and young at heart at the low 1914 price of 25 cents each.
Friday’s ice cream social will be held in conjunction with the weekly performance of the Norwich City Band, which will take the stage at 7 p.m. The band has become a staple in the city’s 100-year history, playing scores that range from contemporary show tunes and popular ballads, to classical marches and patriotic hymns.
