Bonney scores ECAC Division III Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors

GENEVA – Eastern College Athletic Conference Commissioner Dr. Kevin T. McGinniss announced today that Hobart College basketball All-American Richie Bonney (Norwich/Norwich, N.Y.) ’14 is the 2013-14 ECAC Division III Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Bonney's achievements will be celebrated at the annual ECAC Honors Dinner on Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Sea Crest Hotel in North Falmouth, Massachusetts.

The ECAC Scholar-Athlete Awards honor the outstanding academic and athletic achievements of student-athletes representing ECAC schools in Division I, II and III. One male and one female athlete from each division are selected based on extraordinary achievements in academics, athletics, and community service.

Bonney graduated summa cum laude from Hobart in May with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and public policy studies. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa national honor society as well as Hobart's Druid, Chimera, and Orange Key honor societies. Bonney received the 2014 Durfee Award as the College's most outstanding senior and the 2014 Sutherland Prize in Philosophy for excellence in the classics.
