SHERBURNE — A dead female body was reported to authorities early Thursday morning in a parking lot in Sherburne.
According to Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Richard Cobb, the report of the body was made at approximately 6:45 a.m. The female’s body was next to a tan sedan in the parking lot of Richie’s Bar in Sherburne.
Katrine Davis, a woman taking her son to school, said she noticed the police activity. “I saw a bus or two turning around so their bus full of kids didn’t see anything,” she said.
“The investigation is just starting,” said Cobb. “We’ll issue more information later if it becomes available.” The woman has not yet been identified.
State Troopers and investigators were also seen at the location.
Said Cobb, “It doesn’t appear to be a homicide at this time.”
