Norwich moves over .500 mark in division play

Norwich 4, Unatego 2
OTEGO – Norwich senior Chris Trevisani had his third hat trick in the last two weeks as Norwich won its fourth league game of the season Thursday at Unatego.
Tied with the Spartans at halftime, Trevisani scored his third goal of the game, and Dean Weaver added a goal to go with his two assists. "It was the most physical game we've played this season, and one of our best games," said Norwich coach Scottie Decker.
Norwich (4-3, 5-4) plays at Delhi Saturday at 11 a.m.

Unadilla Valley 3, Walton 2
NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley traded goals early with Walton before gaining a two-goal lead in the second half and holding on for the win Thursday.
After Walton's Jared Beech put Walton on top early, UV's Johnny Schermerhorn and Dylan Thomsen executed a give-and-go with Thomsen knotting the game up. That duo returned the favor with Schermerhorn heading in Thomsen's pass for the one-goal lead.
With 11:27 left in the game, Dakota Fernette gave the Storm much-needed insurance heading in a corner pass from Conor Pope.
"This game was a good team win for us," said UV coach Ryan Houck. "We've been focusing all week on teamwork, passing, and possession. I really think it showed tonight."

GREENE – Greene's Luke Day scored six goals Thursday, five in the first 30 minutes of play in the Trojans' shutout of Afton/Harpursville Thursday.
Karl Zaengle had two goals and three assists for Greene (9-1), while Liam Allport and Zach Utter had goals. Greene hosts Unadilla Valley Saturday at noon.

BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford won its second straight two-goal shutout contest in as many games tallying once in each half Thursday against Delhi.
Adam Bauerle had the only goal of the first half tallying with 29 minutes left, and Thomas Petrutoni added a second tally in the final minute of play. The victory raised B-G's record to 8-0 overall.

OTEGO – In a matchup of top MAC teams, Unadilla Valley suffered its first defeat of the season losing to Unatego Wednesday.
The Spartans scored on an own goal less than a minute into the game when a clear attempt deflected into its own goal. Hezel Haehnel and Cassidy Newman added goals for the three-goal halftime lead, and Torri Halaquist added an insurance goal in the second half.

SHERBURNE – Despite getting outshot 16-6, Sherburne-Earlville made the most of its chances beating Mount Markham in overtime Thursday.
Emma Hodges initiated the winning play dribbling from the midfield, beating a defender, and sending a pass to Alexa Bates. Bates gathered herself on the left side of the cage, and fired the game-winner into the right side. "It was a perfect pass and shot," said S-E coach Sheila Cooman. "You couldn't draw it up any better."
The Marauders led 1-0 at the half when Hodges scored off an Alanna Stumpf pass.
S-E plays Little Falls Saturday at SUNY Oneonta at 4 p.m.

WHITNEY POINT – Nine days removed from a four-goal shutout loss to the Golden Eagles, Greene's defense tightened up Thursday, but its offense still failed to tally.
"I think we played more composed on defense and did a better job of marking," said Greene coach Sue Carlin. "Whitney Point's defense is really tough, and we struggled making good choices to get by them."
Whitney Point's goal came with 6:45 left in the first half. Hannah Burchell picked up a rebound, and scored past Greene's keeper, Julia Amell.
Amell was sterling between the pipes, Carlin said, finishing with nine saves. "Julia had some great saves, and defensively, we also made a lot of good stops," Carlin said.

GREENE – Greene earned its first win in six starts this season beating Delhi in four games Wednesday, 26-24, 15-25, 25-23, 25-23.
Autumn Bronson and Megan Brown served five aces apiece for Greene, Brown also had two blocks and three digs, while Laura Montelione's eight kills led the Trojans. "This was a great matchup and serving played a large factor in these games," said Greene coach Shelbe Furman. "Delhi had a strong presence in the middle and consistently hit the ball hard, but our pursuit of this win was relentless.  Kills were strategically placed for us at big moments."

B-G plays at Hancock Wednesday.
