The ‘Pumpkin Pub Crawl’ cometh

NORWICH – In a world divided by fans and foes of the Pumpkin Spice Latté, a time comes when all must rally together for the good of humanity.

This October, a new autumn wind will blow through the streets of downtown Norwich, bringing with it camaraderie, booze, and the possibility of someone dressed as a giant pumpkin.

Adding a new flair to an old tradition, organizers of the budding “Pumpkin Pub Crawl” aim to entice a new demographic to come out to enjoy 16th annual Pumpkin Festival – and beyond.

In 2013, a concept to create and organize the first “Pumpkin Pub Crawl” steadily came into fruition and garnered the attention of both would-be wandering patrons and local businesses alike.

“We didn't advertise this event at all last year – it was more of a word of mouth type thing,” said Tyler Oliver, organizer of what can now be officially called the second annual event.

“We had to test the water a bit and gauge whether or not the fundraiser event could hold its own and prove successful, said Oliver “And it was (successful).”

According to Oliver, the event reaped nearly $500 in earnings, which was pretty good considering that just one year before in 2012 the event had been cancelled due to lack of public participation. “It was a little discouraging,” added Oliver.
