Owego 4, Norwich 2

NORWICH – Norwich's second-half rally came up short as Owego scored two goals within a three-minute span in Monday's contest.

Norwich trailed by two goals at the break, but drew within a single tally when Michaela Fazio drilled an 18-yard free kick past the Owego keeper.

Norwich tied it with 15 minutes left on defender Megan Mirabito's 40-yard shot. Mirabito pushed up from her normal spot on the field and hit a shot just over the Owego keeper's head.

Three minutes later, Lauren Wilson put the Indians back on top. "I think they caught us a little too excited after we tied the game," said Norwich coach Adam Sprague. "We did make a great comeback, and except for a five-minute span after we tied the game, I felt we really dominated the second half."

Wilson later converted an insurance goal on a penalty kick following a Norwich foul in the penalty box.

Norwich hosts Windsor Wednesday.
