Norwich Buffet set to host grand opening Friday in downtown Norwich

NORWICH – Downtown Norwich’s culinary landscape is set to be altered this Friday, Oct. 17, with the opening of The Norwich Buffet.
After extensive renovations to the large, centrally located, space at 37 North Broad St. — located near the corner of Fair and Broad streets — the family owned and operated Norwich Buffet is ready to provide Norwich with its eclectic mix of Chinese food, fresh sushi, and American fare.
Rhonda Chen, co-owner of the Norwich Buffet, said, “With our four hot bars, two cold bars, and sushi bar, we offer more varieties of food than our competitors—especially more varieties of seafood.”
The Norwich Buffet will be open for business seven days a week for lunch and dinner. The $6.99 all-you-can-eat lunch buffet will be available from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. daily, while the $9.99 dinner buffet will run from 3:30 - 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and will remain open until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The dinner buffet will offer more selections than the lunch buffet, including crab legs and clams.
The Norwich Buffet also offers takeout. For the same price as the buffet, customers can fill a takeout container for a meal on the go. Chen said that they do not charge by weight; as long as the lid can be closed, it will cost the same as the regular, eat-in, buffet. The Norwich Buffet, however, will not offer delivery.
The Norwich Buffet has entrances on both Broad St. and the Fair St. parking lot, with off street parking behind the restaurant.
The grand opening is set to kick off at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 at the Norwich Buffet with a ribbon cutting ceremony to include Mayor Joseph Maiurano. In celebration of the grand opening, Chen referenced a special value coupon available in both The Evening Sun and Pennysaver that offers 10 percent off any buffet purchase until the end of the month of November.
Chen said that the Norwich location will be the second store that her family has opened. The original location is the Endwell Chinese Buffet, in Endwell, NY. Norwich was recommended by some customers of the Endwell location as a suitable location for a second restaurant.
After looking into the Norwich area, Chen said that the centrally located, largely residential, population seemed an ideal location to expand into. Chen also said the fact that the area hosts no other large buffet restaurants, made Norwich an even more desirable location.
