Hanna reminds of Medicare open enrollment
CHENANGO COUNTY – Congresssman Richard Hanna is extending a reminder to seniors to take advantage of Medicare open enrollment.
Seniors can make changes to their Medicare plans through Dec. 7. Open enrollment will continue through the first week of December.
“Seniors don’t have to make these decisions alone because there is help out there and a toll free number they can call to discuss their options,” said Hanna. “It’s worth it to take a look and see if there are ways to get better benefits or lower your costs. People can call our office or their local Office of the Aging to find assistnace.”
Hanna pointed out a number of resources available to address concenrs over Medicare. People can visit the Medicare website at www.medicare.gov to compare current coverage with other options or enroll in a new plan. The Medicare phone line (1-800-633-4227) is also available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you have limited income and resources, you may be eligible for help paying prescrition costs. For more information, visit www.socialsecurity.gov/prescriptionhelp or call 1-800-772-1213. On-on-one help is also available from New York’s SHIP website, www.aging.ny.gov or by calling 1-800-701-0501.
