Each year the fire department volunteer staff makes 25 to 30 turkeys and 100 pumpkin and apple pies. The fixings include mashed potatoes, stuffing, squash, green beans, scalloped corn, and cranberry sauce.

“The Harvest Dinner has been going on since I was a kid, for more than 30 years. It used to be held in the Chase Community Center. It got so popular we outgrew it and moved to the firehouse,” said Hanslmaier.

The fire department president said they built a new kitchen to be able to host the harvest dinners. They also built it to allow other organizations to come in and use the kitchen for other events. Some of the items recently bought for the kitchen were two commercial gas stoves, a commercial refrigerator and commercial bay sinks.
