Sherburne Legion adds name to WWII memorial on Veterans Day
SHERBURNE – In honor of the sacrifice of service men and women, the Sherburne American Legion, Post 876, held a Veterans Day ceremony in the village park on Tuesday to pay respects, and to add a new name to the village’s veteran monument.
“Out of blood and sweat, we learned of purpose, sacrifice, tolerance, bravery and discipline,” said opening speaker and American Legion Post 876 adjutant John Nixon. “These are solid foundation stones upon which a great nation is built. In our continuing quest for honorable world peace, we must cultivate these virtues.”
Nixon’s message was echoed by Air Force Sergent Holly Crouch, who cited the commonalities of all service men and women that fight for the same cause.
