Ramsaran indicted on bribery charges

NORWICH— Convicted murderer, Ganesh R. Ramsaran, 39, of New Berlin was indicted by the Chenango County Grand Jury on Nov. 19.

The indictment stemmed from a charge of bribery in the second degree, a class C felony.

It was alleged that on or about Nov. 4 while incarcerated at the Chenango County Correctional Facility, Ramsaran did offer Chenango County Corrections Officer Mark Chesebro $100,000 to aid in his escape from the jail.

Earlier in 2014, on Sept. 23, Ramsaran was found guilty of murder in the second degree, a class A-1 felony. The jury found – based on circumstantial evidence – that Ramsaran had killed his wife Jennifer L. Ramsaran in 2012.

Ramsaran has been incarcerated at the CCCF since May 28, 2013. He was remanded on a $500,000 cash or $1 million property bond at his second arraignment in Chenango County Court.
