Marauders win two titles at CSC tourney

Center State Conference Tournament
CAMDEN – Sherburne-Earlville’s Jack Buell and Garrett DuVall had perfect weekends capturing individual titles at the Center State Conference Tournament.
Buell was named the upper weight Most Outstanding Wrestler taking the 195-pound crown with an 8-7 decision victory over highly regarded Kasey Foster of Dolgeville. Buell pinned his way through his first three matches before taking the one-point decision.
DuVall earned his title with a 4-0 weekend at 285 pounds. DuVall, third in the state last year at 220 pounds, won his first two matches by pin, advanced to the finals with a decision, then edged Central Valley Academy’s Brandon Yager, 1-0 for the title.
The Marauders’ Hunter Owen (138) and Darren Knapp (182) had sixth-place finishes. Owen reached the semifinals, but suffered a tournament-ending injury, and was forced to default his last two matchups.
The Marauders host Rome today.

Oxford boys and girls win
NORWICH – Oxford’s Emily Howard had a team-high 525 series capped by a season-best 232 game as the Blackhawks girls swept all five points from Deposit last weekend.
Oxford’s boys also notched a shutout victory over the inexperienced Lumberjacks.
