Shaver picks up win for Norwich

Indoor Track and Field

ITHACA – Norwich has flourished in the girls’ shot put in recent years, and junior Katelyn Shaver has grabbed the mantle.

On the heels of recently graduated Brooke Bonney, who appeared in the state meet in the shot put the previous three seasons, Shaver grabbed the Tornado’s lone first-place finish at the Finger Lakes Invitational this past weekend.

Shaver won the shot with a toss of 31 feet, 10 inches. David Bernstein had the next-best finish for NHS placing third with a new team-record, 40 feet, 1 inches in the shot put. Emily Shattuck, Delilah Geislinger, Liz Eddy, and Marysa Campbell broke the 800-meter relay team record finishing in 1:56.72 to place fourth overall.
