Colgate athletes visit S-E Elementary

SHERBURNE – Students at Sherburne-Earlville Elementary were introduced to the world of college athletics last week as the school hosted its fourth annual mentorship program with Colgate University athletes.
The program is a way for elementary students to connect with student athletes and learn about the perseverance it takes to excel in athletics and academics. S-E Elementary Principal Antoinett Halliday said the opportunity creates a connection which benefits S-E and Colgate students alike.
"Each of their sports teams adopts one or two of our classrooms to act as mentors for the day," she said. "It's really to have a positive role model come into the classroom which I think it benefits our students as well as the Colgate students who get to spend time with little ones."
Athletes from every Colgate University sports team participated in the program.
