Burst pipe forces Sidney Center BOCES to evacuate

SIDNEY – The DCMO BOCES Harrold Campus in Sidney Center evacuated students on Tuesday.

At approximately 11:23 a.m., the fire alarm was activated when steam from a burst water pipe tripped a smoke detector. The building was evacuated as following DCMO BOCES emergency procedures and the fire department arrived on the scene.

“To ensure the safety of our students, the campus was evacuated,” said Rick Shaw, Health and Safety Coordinator for DCMO BOCES. “As a preventive measure, students were dismissed and sent to their home districts. Staff was also dismissed.”
