DVD Patrol: Toddster's Take on 'American Sniper'

It's still cold, Patrollers! The Toddster has been busy dealing with the weather plus a cold that someone was nice enough to give him. As they say, the show must go on. As promised, a Toddster's Take on "American Sniper." See what you think.

New on DVD
Horrible Bosses 2 - Just when you think you couldn't get revenge on your boss, our three favorite guys are back at it again. Dale (Charlie Day), Kurt (Jason Sudiekis), and Nick (Jason Bateman) all had their own problems with each of their bosses the last time out. This time they decide to get together and start their own business. Things are going well until they get ripped off. It seems Bert Hanson (Christoph Waltz) has taken most of the profits from their business. Now, Bert's son Rex (Chris Pine) comes up with a suggestion that they kidnap him. Little does he know that the guys have been down this road before. Can the guys pull it off and get their money back? Bateman has a number of DVDS that are vey good including "Hancock," "Couples' Retreat," and "Paul" which are available on store shelves now.

Big Hero 6 - When you're good at something, it might make it possible for you to become a hero. The Bond between brothers is something special. Based on the Marvel Comic Book, Hiro and his brother were very close until an accident causes Hiro to lose his. Now Hiro runs across some amazing technology to suggest that his brothers' death may not have been an accident. He was also working on a robot to help people with medical conditions. Hiro takes the robot named Baymax and puts his own special touches on him that might make it possible to make a difference during his investigation. The more they find out, the harder it gets. Hiro recruits some of his friends from school and helps them make some improvements to their own inventions so they can team up. Will Hiro and his friends be able to find out what is happening? My sources have told me that a sequel is already on the way. Keep it here!

Also on DVD
Spenser: For Hire (Season 1) - One of the Toddster's favorite shows became available on DVD and we thought we would feature it right here. Spenser (Robert Urich) is someone you would want on your side if the odds are against you. In the pilot episode, Spenser gets wind of a missing person who may've run afoul of one of the biggest mob bosses (Chuck Connors) in Boston. The more he looks into it, the more people he seems to make mad at him. Even his occasional friend Hawk (Avery Brooks) is having trouble with Spenser. Is Spenser going to be able to solve his case? Urich can also be seen in "Vegas" now available on DVD now. The Toddster can recommend this one as well.

Now in Theaters
American Sniper - War takes its toll on everyone. Based on a true story, meet Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper). Chris lives in Texas and felt a strong connection to his country. After seeing news on television of terrorist bombings, he joins the military and goes to sniper school. Chris learns he has a knack for it and becomes one of the best snipers with one of the best records around. He's not alone after he marries Taya (Siena Miller). Time passes and he has times where he comes home but Taya learns that he can't shut his instincts off because his mind is still on the battlefield. She knows what kind of a toll that it’s taking on her and the family but Chris doesn't seem to. When will the war push him to his breaking point?

The Toddster's Take - This was one of the most powerful movies I've ever seen. You really get a sense of how a soldier can act and the toll they go through once they're there. The families have to endure just as much. Clint Eastwood has always had a knack for picking his projects and this one is no different. Cooper helped produce this and his performance was top notch. From news reports and other opinions I've heard about, there are those that think this movie might seem to put the military in a questionable light because of what they have to do. Without knowing what these people had to go through and having lived it, no one can have an accurate opinion of it. I just like to say I thank God there are people like Chris Kyle and what all the soldiers all over the world have to do to keep us safe. God Bless them and God Bless America.

The Toddster always delivers on his promises. If we get a break in the weather, that means more Toddster's takes. Come on back to check out what we've got. The patrol will return.
