Scholarships available for students to attend DEC summer camp for free

CHENANGO COUNTY – The Federated Sportsman Clubs of Chenango County's Bob McNitt – Kids to Camp Scholarship Program is seeking students between the ages of 11 and 17 to attend one of the DEC summer camps for free.

The scholarship program – completely supported by grants from the Chenango County chapter of the Friends of the NRA and funding projects – has been in place for many years. The Federation has sent many students to DEC camps over the years and is eager to continue the tradition in 2015.

In 2015, The Federated Sportsman Club is looking for between 12 and 15 interested and eager students to send to one of the four DEC camps located throughout the state. The Federation will cover the $350 fee for one week of camp. The Federation only requests that the campers place a $100 deposit to ensure their placement in camp. Once the student returns from camp, the Federation will refund the deposit.

The four DEC camps are Camp Colby (11 to 13 year-olds) in Franklin County, next to the Adirondack Forest Preserve, Camp DeBruce (11 to 13 year-olds) in the southern Catskills, Camp Rushford (11 to 17 year-olds) in Allegany County, and Camp Pack Forest (11 to 17 year-olds) in the southern Adirondacks.
