City shows some Irish swagger
NORWICH – The City of Norwich is in the St. Patty’s Day spirit.
City Mayor Joseph Maiurano signed a proclamation Tuesday morning extending “warm regards to the Irish of the City of Norwich” and praising the local Irish community as a positive force in the city. The proclamation further recognizes St. Patrick’s Day as a joyful celebration treasured by the people of Ireland at home and abroad.
“This day reminds us of the ancient heritage of the Irish people and their membership in the remarkable global family,” the proclamation reads. “Many left Ireland with very little, yet no matter how poor or oppressed they were, they remembered those who were even worse off at home and created vital networks of care for each other.”
