Chenango River Theatre open auditions for Woody Guthrie’s American Song
GREENE – Chenango River Theatre (CRT) will hold regional auditions from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, for Woody Guthrie’s American Song, a celebration of the life and songs of folk legend Woody Guthrie.
Audition information is posted on CRT’s website chenangorivertheatre.org. Both Equity and non-equity actors are encouraged to audition. CRT is the only theatre company in the greater Binghamton area under annual contract with Actors’ Equity Association, the union for professional actors and stage managers.
Two women and three men in their 20’s – 50’s are needed. All five play a variety of roles, sing both solo and group numbers, and must play various musical instruments. All of the men handle spoken words of Woody Guthrie but do not need to look like him. All actors must have an authentic folk music style and sound, and a genuine affinity for the music of Woody Guthrie.
