Bainbridge American Legion presents donation to soup kitchen

BAINBRIDGE – On Saturday, April 18, Slater-Silvernail Post 806 American Legion in Bainbridge made their annual donation to the Bainbridge Soup Kitchen, located in the basement of the United Methodist Church in Bainbridge.
The presentation was made by Post 806 Finance Officer Richard J. Rusakiewicz to Bainbridge Soup Kitchen volunteers, Colby Gravelin and Steven Eisenberg, and Bainbridge United Methodist Church Pastor Gary Kubitz.
The donation was made in honor of Charlie Lord -a member of American Legion Post 806 for 57 years- who volunteered his time to work in the Bainbridge Soup Kitchen for more than 10 years. Lord passed away in 2012 but his memory and the good works he accomplished live on.
This donation and other services Slater-Silvernail Post 806 provides to the Bainbridge community are only made possible through the revenue earned from the Chicken Bar-B-Ques which Post 806 holds four times a year in April, July, October and November, and the American Legion asks for the community’s continued support.
