Thymely Treasures says farewell
NORWICH – Approaching five years after opening the doors of her little shop on the corner, Susan Wood, owner of Thymely Treasures in Norwich, is calling it quits.
Wood has announced that her shop will be closing at the end of the month. Citing a rocky local economy and a dwindling clint base, Wood said it’s simply become too burdensome to keep her store open.
“I put the decision off for over a year hoping that things would improve, but I made the decision that I can no longer afford to keep the shop open. I’m actually losing money,” she said. “It’s incredibly sad for me because this has become my happy place. My shop is my happy place. It’s hard to let it go.”
Although Thymely Treasures will no longer have a home on the corner of East Main and South Broad, plans are to keep the business alive in a new medium. Wood hopes to continue selling her products, including her creative paintings, vintage windows, dolls and floral arrangements at craft shows and local markets. She’s also eyeing the online marketplace to carry on the business name.
