Timely hits give M-E win over Hellcats

Maine-Endwell 13, Chenango Hellcats 6
NORWICH – Maine-Endwell snapped a 4-4 tie with five runs in the fourth inning to defeat the Chenango Hellcats in American Legion play Wednesday evening at Veterans Field.
Jason Wasilnak started the fourth with a single, and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. An infield error scored Wasilnak with the go-ahead run. Later in the inning, Shane Buraime drilled a two-run single, Jack Marris drove in a run on a fielder's choice, and Johnny Plouffe capped the inning with a run-scoring single.
Buraime had two hits and three RBI, Drew Gallagher finished 3-for-4, and Brandon Wanchisen had two hits and four runs scored.
The Hellcats posted a season-best 12 hits in the lost. John Yacano went 3-for-4 with two runs, Cameron Heggie had three hits and two stolen bases, and Paden Burlison laced a two-run double in the fifth.
"Both teams hit the ball well tonight," said Hellcats coach Jason Miller. "(Maine-Endwell) had a few more timely hits, and we weren't able to make up the difference."
The Hellcats host Binghamton Post #1645 tonight at 6 p.m.
