Hellcats win lopsided game with Whitney Point

Chenango Hellcats 12, Whitney Point 1 (5 innings)
WHITNEY POINT – The Chenango Hellcats busted open Saturday's American Legion game with Whitney Point in the fourth scoring six runs to build a 10-0 lead en route to a lopsided victory.
Jon Heggie doubled in Kyle Crawford for the first run. After a Jonah Van Voorhis walk to load the bases, Cameron Heggie smacked a base-clearing, three-run triple. Heggie scored on a Jon Liuzzo groundout, and the sixth tally of the frame came in on an error.
Cameron Heggie was a perfect 4-for-4 on the day with four RBI and two runs scored. Nate Scheer was 2-for-3, Jon Heggie scored two runs and drove in another, and at the ninth spot in the order, Van Voorhis scored three times.
Joe DeVona pitched five innings for the win striking out five and walking none.
The Hellcats play at Johnson City today.

Norwich 8, Worcester 7
NORWICH – Norwich scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Worcester in walk-off fashion last Thursday in the Otsenango Pony League.
Norwich struggled with its pitching issuing 11 walks and hitting four batters to keep Worcester in the hunt. Worcester gained big momentum with three runs in the top of the seventh to force extra innings. From there, Norwich pitcher Payton Stirone held Worcester scoreless.
In the ninth, Mike Trevisani re-entered the game for Norwich, and reached base on an error. After a stolen base and passed ball moved Trevisani to third, he came home with the winner on Stirone's ground ball to first. Trevisani beat the throw home to help Norwich extend its unbeaten mark to 5-0.
"Our previous game was our toughest, and this one was probably our ugliest," said Norwich coach Nick McCullough. "But a win is a win."
Trevisani and Stirone each had two hits in the victory. Norwich plays at Sherburne today.
