Man pleads guilty to assaulting toddler, will serve prison time

NORWICH – 29-year-old Zane T. Abbott, of Mitchell Street in Norwich, NY, entered a plea of guilty following months of felony hearings.

Abbott was originally charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony; and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

These charges stemmed from an arrest made this past February, when Child Protective Services reported to the Norwich Police Department that they were investigating a case involving an alleged assault.

At approximately 5:31 p.m. on February 26, 2015, the NPD received a call from Chenango County Child Protective Services.

When NPD detectives and CPS workers investigated the incident last February, NPD officers found reasonable evidence to arrest Abbott.
