AFTON – On July 25, 2015, New York State Police at Sidney arrested Jeremy M. Astalos, 38, of Afton for the misdemeanors of assault in the third degree, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.

The arrest occurred after troopers responded to a Chenango County 911 report of a dispute at a residence on Hillside Drive in the Town of Afton.

Following an investigation, authorities allege that during a domestic dispute with his wife, Astalos punched her in the face and destroyed her cellphone so she could not call for help. The alleged incident took place in the presence of a minor child, according to troopers.
